Your camera is your best friend

During my first days, I was using an old camera from a friend of mine to take photos during my tours. Sometimes I had to give up the camera because he needed it for his shots too. I thought it wouldn't hurt, but I remember missing countless opportunities on some tours. I wish I could have my camera to capture those rare once-in-a-lifetime moments. So, it was a mistake and you should never do that.

Try investing in a basic camera and learn the fundamentals of how it works. Play with it to master it and improve your creative skills. Take your camera with you all the time and never miss any opportunities along the way to capture sights or rare moments that would add value to your portfolio. If you can, purchase some additional accessories to further cultivate your photography skills and make your photographs stand out. Become familiar with your camera and additional equipment.

Add emotions to your photographs

This is something you'd learn over time, not overnight. Whether you want to become a travel photographer or a generic photographer, you need to be able to add emotions to the photographs you capture. There's no shortage of hobby photographers who don't know what to capture in a photograph. Most beginners have a tendency to photograph without a purpose. Don't be one of them.
